On July 22-23, 2022, in Hangzhou, China, the two-day IDD 2022 3rd Innovative Forum on Infectious Disease Diagnosis Technology successfully concluded.
IDD 2022 focused on metagenomics and various types of infectious disease detection technologies, delving deeply into the upgrade of metagenomic techniques, information analysis, and industrial development. At the same time, infection detection technologies flourished, with topics covering a wide range of testing solutions including targeted amplification NGS, f-NGS, fourth-generation nanopore sequencing, novel biochips, CRISPR technology, RNA diagnostics, single-cell analysis, POCT, and more.
Metagenomic Sequencing - Technological BreakthroughAt this conference, Prof. Hsien-Da Huang, Distinguished Chair Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Associate Dean (Academic) of the Medical College | School of Life and Health Sciences, and Executive Director of the Vasheer Institute of Bioinformatics, delivered a presentation titled "High-Efficiency Host Depletion Technology Application Based on Macromolecular Bionic Structural Materials". He analyzed the current status and limitations of existing host DNA depletion technologies, introduced high-efficiency target detection enrichment techniques and innovative solutions, and discussed potential new scenarios and applications for this technology.
Professor Huang pointed out that in unknown infection detection, non-invasive prenatal screening, and early cancer screening, the interference from host DNA is significant. A low proportion of target detection can lead to issues such as low diagnostic rates and the requirement for high sequencing depth. An efficient and convenient solution for depleting host DNA is undoubtedly an important tool to alleviate this pain point.
Health GeneTech, leveraging its excellent R&D capabilities, has developed a high-efficiency human nucleic acid enrichment technology that can remove 95% of human background in just 5 minutes. This significantly improves the cumbersome and time-consuming pre-processing steps of clinical samples at the current stage.
At this IDD Infectious Disease Diagnostic Technology Innovation Forum, it received widespread attention, with attendees eagerly seeking information and discussions, leaving the staff overwhelmed with responses.
